ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE

Alternative medicine means in a comprehensive manner the methods and practices used instead, or in addition, to standard medical treatments to cure or mitigate disease.
The precise scope of alternative medicine is the subject of some debate and depends largely on what you mean by conventional medicine.

Proponents of alternative medicine argue that alternative therapies typically provide the public services not available in conventional medicine. This argument covers several areas, such as the active participation of the patient, alternative methods of pain management, treatment methods that support the biopsychosocial model of health remedies for specific health concerns, stress reduction services, other preventive health services that do not are typically part of conventional medicine, and of course palliation of complementary medicine.

Alternative medical systems are built around complete systems of theory and practice. Often, these systems have evolved separately and prior to the conventional medical approach. Examples of alternative medical systems Westerners are homeopathy and naturopathy. Examples of other non-Western systems are traditional Chinese medicine and Ayurveda.

The methods of handling (manipulative therapy or manipulation) and based on the body in complementary and alternative medicine emphasize manipulation or movement of one or more parts of the body. Some examples include chiropractic, osteopathy and massage, but it is noteworthy that many of the therapies that are encompassed in these 3 words, are also common practice and disciplines of competence of a health profession, scientific, and regulated as conventional physiotherapy as well as medicine Manual or Osteopathic.
